3 seconds. What can you do in 3 seconds?
- Bull rides are 8 seconds
- You can stand in the painted area of a basketball court for only 3 seconds before it is considered a violation
- You should have 3 seconds between you and the car ahead you, which gives you enough time and distance to respond to problems in the lane ahead of you
- Apple is selling an iPad every three seconds
- Just three seconds is the time it takes to make a decision

Whoosh, “what was that?”
Whoosh, “there it goes again”
Whoosh, “I still can’t tell what it is”
Could this be your company logo, lost in a sea of confusion?

Don’t just sit there….
So, there you are. sitting at your computer, staring blankly at the screen. Sweat begins to roll down your temples. You blink, “got nothin”. You frown and wonder, “What the hell do I write about?” You have heard all the rhetoric about how you should be blogging. You relented and had WordPress installed on your website. So, here you sit. Thoughts run through your mind. Unfortunately, they aren’t the type of thoughts that you want your readers to see.

The following information comes from the Wordpress.org website concerning Security Keys. For more information on securing your WordPress blog go to Mashable.com. This is valuable information, so I won’t have to spend hours trying to find it the next time I set up a blog, I decided to post it here.

So, I have covered why you should be blogging and How to get started blogging with hosted blogs. Finally, I would like to discuss which of the two biggies you should consider if you want to blog for your business.
Self-hosted blogs or Non-hosted blogs are blogs that are hosted on your own Website.

Although there are several options out there, I will cover just two, WordPress and MovableType. Below is a diagram from pingdom.com that will give you a quick overview of which blog platforms (and CMS) are the most popular among the top 100 blogs.

Facebook rolled out its new game plan at its F8 conference on Wednesday. They are looking to increase their presence on the internet. And after giving their moves a lot of thought I have to wonder if they aren’t playing with a double edge sword.
Facebook made three major announcements that will make it easier to connect third-party Web sites that adopt the firm’s new “open-graph protocol.”
The ramifications of this bold step, like a double-edge sword, can cut deep. Businesses can take advantage of this technology to grow its fan base, but will this mean that we will be inundated with more sales pitches? And the availability of abuse can cut even deeper.
But wait, there’s more

After much consideration you have decided it is time to test the water and start a blog. But, you’re not sure what to do.
Your first step is to set up a game plan. It is best to plan it out now rather than trying to make corrections once your blog is up and running. Although adjustments are a part of any successful game plan, due to accumulated links to your blog, setting up your blog correctly in the beginning will prevent problems later.

Everytime I purchase a newer computer I think I am getting one-step closer to no-wait, real time computing. I remember when I upgraded from an xt to the newest processor, the 386. I opened one of my favorite games called asteroids and watched all of the avatars go flying by at breakneck speed.
Well, we are witnessing the same revolution in indexing technology. Last year, we saw the appearance of PubSubHubbub, a simple publish/subscribe protocol for Atom and RSS. PubSubHubBub, or PuSH, provides real-time notifications to subscribers of content when there is new content or updates being made.

When the conversation comes around to blogging and you’re asked if you blog, what do you say? The most common replies are I don’t have time, or I wouldn’t know what to say or I wouldn’t know where to start. But the largest percentage of comments I get is actually in the form of a question, “why should I?” Read the rest of this entry »
